Software Architect

Tech

Job description

It’s our mission at BuyBay to solve the problem of returns and overstock in e-commerce across Europe. With our unique software (developed in-house) and a connected logistics chain, we are able to ensure that all these products get a second life - and along the way ensure less waste, a lower CO2 footprint, and optimal results for our partners.

The Tech team takes care of the development, maintenance and support of the software the company runs on. They do this using a modern technology stack and a continuous drive to improve both the quality of the technology, as well as the processes used to deliver it. After having successfully managed to rearchitect and reimplement key parts of its software landscape, BuyBay is exploring the possibilities of developing its applications, which are now tailored for use by colleagues, into a technology-based proposition for direct use by its business clients and partners.

As Software Architect you will become a senior member of the team. In this role, you will design and implement solutions that find the correct balance between technical elegance, responsible pragmatism and innovation, while being carried by the technology teams. We provide a very specific service and proposition with a high level of knowledge, experience, and sophistication! For large parts of the software support that is required, no off-the-shelf solutions are available. This means that for many topics, new and innovative solutions need to be designed and created. This also includes using Machine Learning, which we develop in close collaboration with our data science team.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead brainstorming sessions to develop potential solutions for business needs or problems, as identified by and/or in collaboration with the Product Manager and/or IT Manager.
  • Design and maintain the integrations with third-party systems, like Warehouse Management Systems and e-commerce platforms/sales channels.
  • Identify areas where (software) technology can support business needs and goals.
  • Creating high-level product specifications and design documents.
  • Guide and assist the development team throughout the development process.
  • Communicate and consult with partners/clients and internal stakeholders to develop appropriate solutions.

  • 5+ years of experience in a relevant role, preferably in a software product company context.
